Several years ago EDHEC adopted a strategy for European excellence and for this reason in 2001 it created the EDHEC-Risk Institute. With its thirty-five professors, engineers, and associate researchers, this centre boasts Europe's largest team for research on asset management. As a result of its work on alternative investment, EDHEC is now a global leader in the study of hedge fund allocation.

The EDHEC-Risk Institute has six research programmes, all sponsored by the industry and devoted to asset allocation and risk management in both alternative and traditional universes.

Its mission in mind, the EDHEC-Risk Institute attempts systematically to validate the quality of its research by having it published in leading journals, by putting into place an ambitious communication policy designed to keep investors and asset managers abreast of the latest techniques and concepts, and by partnering with the industry to launch innovative products.

To bring the academic and business worlds closer together, the EDHEC-Risk Institute has created a website devoted to scientific research on risk management and asset allocation: www.edhec-risk.com , sends a monthly newsletter to more than 100,000 professionals, regularly surveys and consults the industry, and organises several conferences a year for the benefit of institutional investors and asset managers.

The work of the research centre has also resulted in the creation of EDHEC Asset Management Education, with activities that allow industry professionals to gain greater knowledge of risk management and of asset allocation in traditional and alternative asset classes.
