EDHEC Leadership & Corporate Governance Research Centre: The Centre
EDHEC LEADERSHIP & Corporate Governance Research Centre is a research centre dedicated to the understanding and development of top management teams in Europe. Positioned in the academic field of Strategic Leadership, the Center endeavours to shed light on strategic leadership and corporate governance reform. A context where strategic leadership and managerial legitimacy are to be reinvented.
In accordance with the research strategy of group EDHEC, the Centre strives for both academic excellence and managerial relevance. Our ambition: to become the European reference on the question of leadership of Top Management Teams and, more largely, on stakeholder management. To this end:
- Academic excellence. The center regularly initiates new research programs on the relevant issues of Top Management Teams and Strategic Leadership. The results of research initiated in the Centre have been published in refereed academic journals, thereby contributing to the advancement of a rigorous and relevant body of knowledge about the characteristics of Top Management Teams and their effects on organizations.
- Managerial relevance. The strength of the centre lies in the partnership of research tasks and the practical application of our findings through the collaboration with leaders and top managers in companies. The Centre not only communicates it's ideas and proposals via position papers but also accompanies the teams in their implementation of new practices through a cycle of conferences and seminars.
A Managerial and Positive Approach to Corporate Governance
EDHEC LEADERSHIP & Corporate Governance Research Centre is distinguished from the other research centres on two points: First, our work concerns both the human dimension and the managerial component of corporate governance: while the majority of research concentrates on the structures and rules of corporate governance, we focus on the behaviours of the actors and their leadership; secondly, our work concentrates on the positive aspects of Top Management: whereas the majority of research focuses on the negative effects of deviant behaviours of Top Executives, we focus on the positive behaviours which contribute to the sustainable development and performance of organizations.
