LegalEdhec: Partnerships


e-Competitions partnership

The LegalEdhec research centre is renewing its partnership with the publication e-Competitions. The reports published by members of LegalEdhec were viewed 2,241 times. This publication is the on-line manifestation of the academic journal Concurrences. The publication e-Competitions consists of analyses in English on national decisions having to do with competition rules and regulations. In 2007, the e-Competitions site of Concurrences was visited 1 million times and it reached an agreement with Westlaw (Thomson/Sweet & Maxwell) to distribute the database in North America. LegalEdhec joins the other prestigious institutions, all of them law schools, that are e-Competitions partners. EDHEC is the only business school partner. In the UK there are King's College London, Queen Mary, University College London (Jevons Institute), in Germany Freie Universitaet Berlin, Mainz University, in Belgium Leuven University, in Switzerland the University of Geneva, in Austria Salzburg University, and in France the Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Université d'Aix-Marseille. Prestigious law farms are also partners: Allen & Overy, Freshfields, Gide Loyrette Nouel, Hogan & Hartson, Lovells, White & Case.

Protiviti Partnership

As part of its work on compliance, LegalEdhec has just inked a partnership agreement with Protiviti France, the French branch of Protiviti, Inc., an American firm specialised in risk management. Protiviti, Inc., has fifty branches around the world and is a subsidiary of Robert Half International, Inc., listed on the New York stock exchange. AFJE Partnership

The strategic role of the corporate lawyer is at the heart of the work done by LegalEdhec. It is not surprising then that LegalEdhec and the AFJE (the French association of corporate lawyers). The AFJE is the largest, oldest, and most well known of the French associations of corporate councels and lawyers. Its work contributes to the development of exchanges among corporate lawyers and to learning, as well as to the visibility of the profession in the interests of employers and the French economy. This partnership will result in a study on legal corporate culture (see Projects).

There are several forms of partnership:

Global Centre Partnership

This particular partnership involves a long-term (three years) commitment; its aim is to sponsor the work of the Centre for a sustained period of time. It can involve the endowment of a research chair, a possibility that will provide the partner with publicity in the media, in academic and professional circles, and among the students at EDHEC Business School.

Partnership for the Production of an EDHEC Position Paper

EDHEC Position Papers, published on the EDHEC website, deal with economic, social, and legal problems and are sent to all the relevant media as well as to policymakers in the fields of politics and economics. In these papers, EDHEC recommends institutional or regulatory improvements in an attempt to improve the performance of the French economy. As this improvement is one of the major objectives of the newly elected president of the country, the resonance of these papers is all the greater.

Symposium 2009 Partnership

Companies partnering with the Centre for the Symposium on Legal Performance will contribute to an academic project whose repercussions will have a significant effect in professional circles. Corporate partners will benefit from visibility in all communication about the symposium and will also figure prominently in the two books planned to highlight the proceedings.
